Position: Consultant Pharmacy - Nurse (LPN). The idea candidate must reside in the Eastern Region in Knoxville, TN and required to travel to assigned centers in the area. Current NHC Nurses interested in transferring to the Consulting Pharmacy are strongly urged to apply.
Position Overview: Assists Consultant Pharmacist in their role of providing consultation, evaluation and overseeing all aspects of the provision of pharmacy services in the nursing facility according to policies, procedures, state and federal laws.

Position Overview: Assists Consultant Pharmacist in their role of providing consultation, evaluation and overseeing all aspects of the provision of pharmacy services in the nursing facility according to policies, procedures, state and federal laws.
Duties and Responsibilities
- All duties are performed under the immediate supervision of a Consultant Pharmacist.
- Evaluation of all medication storage areas within the nursing facility according to policies, state and federal laws and provide written reports.
- Audits all aspects of ordering, acquiring, receiving, labeling, storage, administering, documenting, disposing and reconciliation of medications in the nursing facility.
- Conducts educational sessions regarding medication policies, procedures, state and federal laws.
- Evaluation and audit medication administration and monitoring systems.
- Education and evaluation of manufacturers' specifications regarding medications.
- Evaluates medication storage areas according to state and federal law.
- Assists with the destruction of controlled substances in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Facilitate communication between nursing facility and pharmacy.
- Customer service liaison.
- Receive an order from a prescriber, enter the order into patient electronic health record.
- Correct orders entered into electronic health record as outlined by policies and procedures.
- Administer medications in an emergency situation as allowed by policies, procedures, state and federal law.
- Transfer of narcotics.
- Destruction of non-narcotics according to policies, procedures, state and federal law.
- Help with patient care in an emergency as certified and allowed by law.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor authorized to do so.
Qualifications
- S. diploma
- Licensed nurse with active state license in good standing
- Two years of experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required, MatrixCare helpful
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Able to work at a moderate speed
- Self-motivated/high work ethic
- Able to work during inclement weather
- Reliable
- Problem solver
- Good organization/Attention to detail
- Job is ADA compliant
