The Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Lisle, Illinois office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. You will work with a team of experienced engineers with great mentorship skills and exciting projects in the field of transportation.
Your Impact
+ Project electrical engineer capable of directing and mentoring a project team.
+ Provide guidance to junior staff or interns to assist with project flow.
+ Primary role will be to lead the Electrical Roadway Lighting Program as part of the IL Tollway General Engineering Consultant.
+ Project management activities including writing proposals, establishing budgets, reviewing billing, and managing client iterations.
+ Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, which includes review of lighting plans, review of lighting reports/photometric analysis, scheduling, and resolving engineering design issues.
+ Coordinates the activities of technical staff from project award through project completion.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Work with engineering teams on innovative design and research/recommend fundamental components identified in electrical designs.
+ Work within multi-disciplinary project teams to develop drawings and specification documents.
+ Work to review electrical drawings, lighting reports, and roadway lighting plans for the Illinois Tollway and Illinois Department of Transportation.
+ Plan and execute electrical engineering tasks and contribute to a full range of electrical design activities.
+ Participate in the development of reports and presentations for client meetings.
+ Provide project status updates and reports to clients, management, integrated project teams, and stakeholders.
+ Develop and maintain client relationships and attend client and stakeholder meetings.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or civil engineering.
+ 3-5 years of experience in Electrical Roadway Lighting Design with some Project Management experience.
+ Experience in Illinois Tollway, IDOT and Chicago Dept. of Transportation Roadway Lighting design specifications and requirements.
+ Proficient with AGI32 Lighting Analysts Software.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Ability to travel to project sites on occasion.
+ Ability to work on several projects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Roadway lighting design experience on IL Tollway and IDOT Projects
+ Licensed Professional Engineer
+ Knowledge of other Lighting calculation programs (other than AGI)
+ Proficiency using MicroStation
+ Strong written and oral communications skills are required
