About the Job
What you will be doing:
- Manage construction layout projects. Project will be handled from Initial setup through final close out.
- Direct the planning and development of the project scope, procedures, and budget.
- Review contracts to determine significant parameters, time schedules and mileposts, and define the major task areas.
- Ensure contractual commitments are met and the work is being performed according to the client's instructions.
- Review and approve all major change orders and periodically review change order controls to determine their adequacy and whether change orders are current and adequate.
- Coordinate all client contact, including correspondence between the company and the client and maintain working relationships at all levels throughout the period of the project.
- Resolve problems and coordinate the final turnover of the project to the client.
- Responsible for quality control over the complete project.
- Monitor fees and budgets; report problems to the appropriate Department and Division Managers.
- Review and address health & safety concerns on projects assigned. Conduct field safety audits.
- Schedule jobs for field.
- Prepare cost estimates and proposals for construction layout and traditional surveying work.
- Coordinate surveying work with contractors, engineering, and technician/design departments.
- Perform and coordinate with office staff: plan review; prepare necessary computations; daily field work review (QA/QC); and final deliverable preparation.
- Check and approve time sheets and expense reports of survey crew personnel and related staff.
- A continuous workload will be self-generated through chasing projects (preparing proposals), through current client relationships, and developing new clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Our ideal candidate has:
- Bachelor's Degree in surveying, related construction, engineering field or equivalent with 2 years' experience in a junior or similar role; a comparable combination of education and experience can be considered.
- Demonstrated management skills and job performance at the preceding job level (or equivalent), as determined by senior management.
- Must possess a general knowledge and some level of proficiency with software programs and equipment (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Trible Survey Equipment, Leica Scanners) inherent to successful completion of the work assigned.
- Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
