FC has vast experience in the heavy and light industrial, commercial, healthcare, and institutional markets. Along with our in-house design department, Ferguson self performs concrete, masonry, steel erection, general carpentry, and sheet metal roofing and siding trades.
The Safety Specialist supports managers, supervisors, and team members with the implementation of company and client safety and health policies and procedures. The specialist leads by developing relationships and influencing behavior to drive operational excellence, positive change, and continual improvement. The specialist is a continual learner and technical expert in safety equipment and regulations.
Description:
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies for reducing/eliminating injuries, illnesses, accidents
- Attends project meetings, including pre-job planning, as well as owner/client kick-off safety meetings, and other site safety meetings.
- Perform jobsite safety audits weekly and coordinate necessary remediation with site supervisors and crew foremen following identification of jobsite hazard.
- Conduct various safety related training. Assist with course development and scheduling as needed.
- Work closely with site Superintendents and Project Managers to address safety hazards with onsite crew. Make necessary modifications for compliance and safe working practices.
- Conduct incident investigations. Collect evidence to ascertain facts. Interview witnesses. Write a report to facilitate company learning through root cause analysis.
- Complete site-specific safety plans with input from the operations team.
- Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health policies, programs, systems, and procedures.
- Conduct new hire safety orientation
- Conduct and prepare materials for safety training, meetings, and orientations.
- Review incident data and metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
- Collect data, create timely reports, and communicate trends from field inspections to leaders
- Ensure random drug screens are handled in a timely manner.
- Ensure the worksite and all individuals at the worksite are following safety protocols and meeting the safety requirements of the company, client, state, localities, etc.
Qualifications:
- A.S. Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (or related field)
OR
B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (or related field)
