Day In the Life of a Layout Engineer
Are you passionate about being in the field and solving problems? Do you want to support the successful placement of concrete in a self-performed operation by using technology? If so, you'll thrive as a Layout Engineer with us!
In this role, you will:
- Set Lines. Understand the objections of the site survey and provides horizontal and vertical control using Total Stations.
- Field Engineering. Participate in layout and field engineering activities. These activities would include:
- Establish control lines from control points.
- Layout Foundations.
- Layout vertical formwork such as columns and walls.
- Establish elevation control points.
- Layout decks and deck edges.
- Layout required embeds block-outs and other items required by contract.
What Experience & Abilities You Bring
- Education & Experience. Prior education or experience commensurate for the role, including a certificate or degree program in surveying, geospatial engineering, or related field or training as a carpenter. Desired (but not required): one year of experience in field engineering/lay-out.
- Safety. Knowledge of, and experience adhering to, OSHA guidelines. Current safety credentials including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR.
- Construction Documents. Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications and effectively communicate this understanding to others.
- Communication. Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Mobile. Ability to work across multiple job sites across a variety of locations.
