Construction Project Accountant
Our client is a dynamic leader in the Construction industry and is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join their finance team. This role will play a crucial part in supporting project financial management, cost tracking, and budgeting processes.
Position Overview:
The Project Accountant will be responsible for monitoring project financials, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and collaborating with project teams to optimize profitability and financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Financial Management:
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and revenue recognition.
- Track project expenses, including labor, materials, and overhead.
- Ensure accurate allocation of costs to respective projects.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial reports.
- Analyze project financial data to identify variances and trends.
- Provide insights and recommendations to project managers and senior management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and management of project budgets.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and updates to project budgets.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure budget adherence and cost control.
- Cost Analysis & Control:
- Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor project profitability and margins.
- Implement and maintain cost control measures to optimize project financial performance.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with project accounting standards and company policies.
- Maintain accurate project financial records and documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial audiences.
- Participate in project meetings to provide financial updates and insights.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project accounting or similar role.
- Strong understanding of project accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
