Construction Supervisor – large diameter and transmission.
This position will be responsible for covering construction of large diameter and transmission.
REPORTING LOCATION IS FLEXIBLE
Oversee and assign work for Large Diameter and Transmission projects. Individual will plan, organize, track, and follow through with large diameter projects from start until completion. Position will also involve managing contractors and union personnel. Also involved will be maintenance, repair, and/or restoration of gas operations facilities, including all related projects, resource management, and customer involvement. Responsible for overall monitoring of work to ensure safe, effective and efficient operations performance and compliance to all applicable PNG, PUC, and Federal rules/regulations.
Essential Duties
- Plan and monitor the workload of large diameter and transmission projects daily
- Proactively monitor, identify and correct safety standards and adherence to company, local, state and federal policies/ regulations/guidelines
- Create effective tie-in / Shutdown procedures
- Give assistance and feedback to questions from designs
- Serve as a safety ambassador for the team and active projects by conducting detailed pre-job safety discussions and upholding safety at the highest level possible.
- Monitor overtime and expenses to meet allocated budget
- Assess and recommend a course of action with project changes
- Recommend and implement process improvements for the department's internal work and its interactions with other departments and customers
- Actively participate with logistics and communicate timely schedule changes and Change orders
- Meet with the DEP, CCD, and other entities pertaining to the projects.
- Meet with land owners to help facilitate preconstruction agreements, address complaints, or keep updated about project timelines.
- Work with internal and external design firms to help plan upcoming projects and keep on track.
- Coordinate with outside vendors to order, coordinate, and secure needed material.
- Help to plan, conduct, and assist in project bid meetings
- Project design review, material review, Constructability review, customer interactions, etc.
Successful candidate must possess the following skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of Transmission and Storage regulations, procedures, and construction activities
- Knowledge of interpreting and understanding drawings or construction and station fabrication work
- Knowledge of Gas Construction/Operations
- Working knowledge of systems used to complete work
- A strong knowledge of the company policies, work procedures, standard operating procedures, and processes
- Possess strong and effective communication skills
- Possess strong time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- A strong knowledge of the local, federal and state regulations as they impact the area of focus
- Training hours to maintain job knowledge are typically 40-80 hours annual operating system knowledge, SOP's, PUC/DOT/OSHA/CFR regulations; knowledge of federal and state codes
- Ability to create a cohesive team, collaborate with stakeholders, instill enterprise focus, and motivate a team
- Systems skills for applications used in work completion, including SAP and Microsoft Office
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in gas distribution pipeline construction.
- Supervisory or crew leader experience.
- Understanding of PUC, CFR and/or DOT regulations.
- Demonstrated success in leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in systems and project management.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Management or similar preferred
This position is considered a covered function regulated by 49 CFR Parts 192 (the pipeline safety rules), and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Working Conditions:
- Daily travel to work sites of PNG, external customers and travel beyond Pittsburgh representing PNG.
- May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions; mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards; fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
