Construction Manager Role: The Construction Manager's role is focused primarily on overseeing all project specific cashflow, job margin, labor force management, indirect costs, and overall supervision of Project Management staff and responsibilities. * Mastery of the department's Job Margin and Gross Profit performance.
* Ownership of the department's Annual Budget and Forecast in cooperation with the Branch General Manager.
* Hold Weekly Job/Project progress status meetings with estimating and project management teams focused on job margin, existing and emerging issue resolution.
* Manage and coordinate department HR issues with upper management and Corporate HR.
* Consult with the Branch Manager on Opportunity Analysis (Cost/Benefit, Risk/Reward) and high-risk business cases.
* Engaged participation in leadership training courses.

Ascertain missing resources (human, equipment, technical, funding) needed to achieve the department's goals and objectives. Seek inspiration and inspire others * Promote the company * Focus on work that delivers the agreed profit margin. * Ongoing focus on financial health of the department, ensuring agreed KPIs are regularly measured, and actions taken promptly to ensure goals are achieved. To include job margin performance and the department's financials (P&L, Cash Flow), sales (quote and estimate) activity reports, labor, and equipment utilization. Accurate revenue forecast and operating cost budgets. Control inventory.
* Promote processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Augment Corporate departmental and organizational policies with the department's specific procedures necessary to maximize output. Monitor adherence to Corporate and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
* Create and maintain a common vision of offerings, focused on opportunities and challenges across the department. Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of communication between/with customer and department representatives. Represent the company in outside meetings as needed. Informs internal and external customers of new offerings and upgrades. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions. * Strategic Input - Liaison with top management. Assist in the development of the department's strategic plan for operational activity. Contribute and implement department input to the Branch business plan.
* Safety - Promote an environment of safety and safe practices. Ensure all employees and processes remain compliant with company safety policies, OSHA, and other governmental regulations. Ensure department compliance with Corporate safety program and policies.
* Rigging Services and Construction Oversight - Ensure that all rigging services and construction projects in progress are completed on schedule and within budget. Oversee
Project Managers and stay in constant communication with them and Sales and Estimating staff to help address any arising challenges. Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain. Take any corrective action as needed, within the most proactive method to assure a positive outcome. Understand and utilize the 'Lessons Learned' method. Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
* Risk Management - Ensure all contracts are reviewed at the department level for Scope of Work, Job Site Conditions, alignment with Proposal T&Cs. Ensure timely submittal to and support of, and compliance with Corporate Contract Administration Department and Project Controls Department. Requirements:
* College degree in Business, Organizational Management, Construction Management, Engineering Management, or a related field required. 5 or more years of direct management experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree, dependent on structure of work history.
* Proven experience as a manager of 5 or more office staff plus 20 or more field personnel, personally managed a minimum annual sales of $10M, or comparable management role.
* Experience in planning and budgeting.
* Excellent math and analytical abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal vocabulary and communication skills.
* Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
* Problem-solving aptitude. Must be able to:
* Understand and negotiate complex contractual terms and conditions while minimizing legal assistance.
* Manage for bottom line performance while still maintaining good client relationship. Insightful analysis of job cost project-to-date actual cost (dollars and units of measure). Capable of making judgments and recommendations on cost controls, results, and analysis. Review and understand forecasted job cost prepared by engineering. LEI (Labor Efficiency Index): can perform analysis, report (written or verbal) on results and make judgments.
* Negotiate change orders and prepare and negotiate claims.
* Understands how budget and change orders affect scheduling, material management and performance monitoring. Can recognize areas of budget data that may be questionable.
* Understand estimating and cost control.
* Understand scheduling and have demonstrated the ability to manage for early completion. Strong Knowledge of:
* Cost Engineering, Scheduling, Construction Engineering
* Acknowledge and be responsible for the Project's bottom line.
* Union CBA and PLA requirements
* Organizational effectiveness and operations management.
* Business and management principles and practices.
* Business financial and accounting principles and practices.
* Project management principles and practices.
* InEight, MS Teams/Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
