We are seeking a skilled Network Construction Manager to oversee small cell and fiber deployment projects, ensuring quality control, contract compliance, and successful execution of all phases of construction. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in telecommunications construction management and a proven track record in small cell and fiber construction.
The base range for this contract position is $40 - $50/per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We are seeking a skilled Network Construction Manager to oversee small cell and fiber deployment projects, ensuring quality control, contract compliance, and successful execution of all phases of construction. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in telecommunications construction management and a proven track record in small cell and fiber construction.
The Network Construction Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of small cell and fiber deployment, including site visits, project planning, contractor coordination, and quality control. This role requires significant on-site presence, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external contractors.
Responsibilities
- Manage all small cell and fiber deployment activities, including:
- Conducting site design visits.
- Ordering power with utility companies.
- Performing node outages and completing materials procurement.
- Reviewing and approving drawings.
- Requesting GC purchase requests and controlling project budgets.
- Conducting weekly team meetings and issuing contractor Certificates of Performance (COP).
- Oversee, inspect, and monitor fieldwork for excavations, boring, aerial strand and fiber cable installations, and site restorations.
- Collaborate with contractors, advising on violations and recommending adjustments.
- Perform field measurements to verify contractor billing and ensure placement accuracy.
- Maintain detailed project records, including daily diaries, as-built plans, and material logs.
- Evaluate progress schedules and prepare work orders and monthly estimates.
- Manage warehouse inventory, vendor outfitting, and fiber inventory documentation in company systems.
- Provide on-site supervision during major outages or sensitive network impacts.
- Conduct strand mapping, make-ready rides, and post-construction rides with other utilities.
Skills
- Expertise in Small Cell deployment and Fiber Construction (both underground and aerial).
- Ability to independently assess project designs, actualize tasks, and upload documentation for team review.
- Experience in construction progress updates, including accurate daily reporting, site visits, quality control, and adherence to safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of splicing and testing specifications for fiber installations.
- Basic understanding of web application infrastructure and front-end/database technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Visio) and other software like Google Earth and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong photo inspection and field measurement skills for audit verification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications/wireless construction management.
- Strong background in small cell deployment and fiber construction is required.
