Construction Manager – Electrical
General Description
The Construction Manager – Electrical is responsible for driving the project’s safety, productivity, and quality in the field, minimizing risks, and completing the work in the best interests of QISG, our clients, and our co-workers.
The Construction Manager – Electrical reports to and supports the Project Manager with all facets of project planning, execution, controls, and closeout to maintain or improve the balance between scope, budget, time, and quality.
Our Construction Manager – Electrical supervises all field operations on assigned projects.
Duties
- Directs and coordinates field construction
- Administration of the prime contract and construction subcontracts and purchase orders
- Monitors progress of the overall design to maintain or improve the balance between scope, budget, time, and quality
- Manages and drives subcontracts and purchase orders to maintain or improve the balance between scope, budget, time, and quality
- Originates, reviews, and/or responds to Requests for Information (RFI) and Submittals for constructability; maintains and improves the balance between scope, budget, time, and quality
- Helps the Project Manager manage and control the project budget, schedule, and quality through effective change management
- Manages and enforces the project’s QA/QC standards and coordinates QA/QC actions with subcontractors and suppliers
- Manages and enforces the project’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and coordinates with subcontractors and suppliers to implement their own safety actions
- Works with the Project Manager to prepare and update project schedules and status reports, pay requests, and daily, weekly, and monthly progress, budget, and schedule management reports
- Handles project setup and temporary facilities
- Field document control
- Creates daily reports
- Takes progress photographs
- Understands the project schedule’s baseline and milestone dates; able to communicate this with stakeholders as needed
- Owns the project’s Short Interval Schedule (aka 3-4 week Look Ahead schedule) and updates it weekly with previous week’s production and the CM’s work plan over the next two weeks of activities, which may include additional safety, productivity, and quality details relevant to the actual needs of field management and trades.
- Objectively assesses the weekly work status of Physical Percent Complete (PPC) for the overall project
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
- Performs special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested
Required Experience and Education
- Six (6) years’ progressive experience in various aspects of the mission critical / data center and heavy industrial construction markets (specifically in the field).
- This would include, but is not limited to, hands-on construction, supervision, construction management, audit and inspection of industrial electric projects, high voltage converter stations, power generation facilities, and mission critical data centers, including scheduling, cost controls, safety, quality, and risk
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, regulations and industry standards.
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required
Preferred Experience and Education
- Electrical Journeyman experience in commercial or industrial industries.
- Experience supervising a team in the electrical construction industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or equivalent
- OSHA 30 training certification
- Experience with Procore, SharePoint, scheduling software (Primavera P6), and other Project Management software(s)
- Experience with estimating processes
- Strong people relationship management skills

- Good understanding of the project design process for projects
- Understanding of integrated EPC and Design-Build processes
- Contract management

- Strong management and communication (electronic, written, and verbal) skills
- Computer skills with knowledge and practical experience using MS Office and cloud-based program database entry
