Our team is currently looking for a Construction Health and Safety Manager for a client in the Oil & Gas industry.
The Construction Health and Safety Manager will oversee and enforce safety protocols across various construction projects, including:
- Electrical: Substation breaker and relay upgrades, generating station upgrades.
- Civil: Concrete structure rehabilitations, demolitions, and earthworks.
- Mechanical: Equipment upgrades and overhead crane improvements.
This role requires a seasoned safety professional to implement and monitor safety programs, conduct activity hazard assessments, oversee contractors, manage safety documentation, conduct audits, and ensure daily safety meetings are held. The Safety Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining compliance and ensuring a safe work environment across all construction phases.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Enforce and implement site-specific safety programs for various construction projects.
- Develop and conduct activity hazard assessments for construction activities.
- Oversee contractor compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
- Review and manage safety submittals and documentation from contractors.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and resolve safety concerns.
- Manage and coordinate corrective actions and field change requests as they arise.
- Lead and participate in daily on-site safety meetings to communicate hazards and safety policies.
- Support the implementation of the EHS Electronic Software Platform at the project site.
- Complete and submit safety reports, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a basic science or a technical field related to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management, or equivalent relevant experience in EHS.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of construction safety management experience, particularly in electrical, civil, or mechanical projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office and internet/intranet platforms.
- Familiarity with EHS software systems and the ability to support software implementation at the site level.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with a proactive approach to safety management.
Skills:
- Certification in Occupational Health & Safety, such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent.
- Experience with OSHA or other regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Ability to identify potential hazards and implement effective solutions in complex project environments.
- Strong understanding of construction safety best practices, with hands-on experience in similar project settings.
Work Environment: This position will require on-site presence at various project locations, with a focus on maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for all construction activities.
