Our client, a leading landscaping company in Caseyville, IL, is seeking a Construction Group Manager!
As the Group Manager, you will monitor daily operations and meet strategic goals for their division. Responsible for the annual and projected business plans of the operating unit. Work includes ensuring proper estimation and execution of projects under the operating unit that are successful and profitable. Continuous updating of methodology, best practices, processes, and norms for the division and the company is essential. This position requires proven leadership skills, management of priorities, and a dedication to maintaining projects on time, on budget and with safety being the highest priority. To be successful in this role you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision maker while helping your team develop to company standards. Wide range of duties and responsibilities to ensure their employees complete all assigned work efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains the master schedule for all operations.
- Manages the department's hours and labor.
- Works in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and President/CEO to set budgets and sales goals for the division.
- Maintains close cooperation with the President to ensure the smooth operation of the business and the achievement of operational targets to include sales reviews.
- Prepares forecast of peak manpower requirements to enable any shortages to be recruited and hired.
- Submits monthly progress report to the President on running projects and report expenditure compared with budget.
- Communicates staffing adjustments, equipment needs, contract awards, market developments, and all potential opportunities.
- Keeps the President informed of potential problems or concerns.
- Provides leadership and direction to workforce to ensure project direction and the focus of all work is understood.
- Provides project execution/training and/or support services to all crews.
- Provides timely support services to the team and clients in addressing any questions or concerns.
- Performs employee performance reviews.
- Provides a positive image of the company at all times to both employees and customers.
- Ensures the right skills and competencies of the direct and indirect manpower are available to meet the business needs.
- Assumes responsibility for all equipment usage for the division.
- Design strategy and set goals for current and future growth.
- Maintain budgets and optimize expenses.
- Oversee and evaluate all employees are working as efficiently and safely as possible at all times.
- Prepare reports for upper management as requested.
- Maintain 95% retention rate of desirable team members.
- Understand, support and enforce all company policies in relation to your team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK CONDITIONS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit unassisted for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work 50-65 hours per week through peak season.
- Ability to work up to 6 days per week.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects at one time while paying strict attention to detail.
- Involved in voluntary certification programs.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Basic understanding of potential mechanical difficulties.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
