About the Job
Our client is a Class A Contractor with extensive experience in government and commercial construction projects, and seeks a skilled Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating costs across various contract types (lump sum, line item, time/material, design/build), ensuring adherence to project scopes and specifications. Key responsibilities include analyzing project documentation, conducting quantity take-offs, evaluating subcontractor quotes, and preparing comprehensive bid proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and proposals to prepare detailed estimates for projects.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Prepare project bid status reports and manage bid compliance with specifications.
- Assist in negotiating scope and pricing with subcontractors.
- Conduct value analysis and recommend cost-efficient alternatives.
- Monitor ongoing proposals and collaborate with internal teams to fulfill bid requirements.
- Foster relationships with new and existing trade contractors.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating for a commercial general contractor.
- Proficiency in RS Means, Gordian, or similar unit price books.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Adobe and BlueBeam is beneficial.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors at construction sites.
- Occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Salary
60,000 - 100,000 /year
