Triumph Construction is hiring a Senior Estimator for our Bronx, NY location. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating project scopes and preparing detailed financial summaries that align with budgetary and timeline requirements. You will collaborate closely with designers and engineers to develop accurate and comprehensive estimates.
Key responsibilities include performing plan take-offs, managing the weekly bid schedule, and preparing detailed price breakdowns for management approval. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with the expertise to ensure project estimates meet organizational goals and standards.
Requirements
- Analyze project documentation, including proposals, blueprints, and specifications, to prepare accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with senior management daily to build estimates and identify new bidding opportunities.
- Ensure timely and comprehensive completion of estimates for final review.
- Adhere to project specifications and standards to maintain estimate accuracy.
- Engage with vendors to negotiate optimal pricing for estimates and proposals.
- Attend required site visits and meetings before bid submissions.
- Participate in management meetings to discuss productivity and progress.
- Assist in achieving goals for bid cost versus actual job cost and work with the team to meet profit margins.
- Maintain the estimating software system and organize paper backups for management review.
- Verify vendor and subcontractor estimates align with the project scope.
- Include necessary insurance considerations in estimates.
- Uphold client confidentiality at all times.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred but not required.
- 8–15 years of experience as a construction estimator and general contractor.
- In-depth knowledge of construction practices, costs, and procedures.
- Proven experience in vendor management, procurement, and construction management.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as B2W, HCSS, Sage 300, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Expertise in both private sector projects and NYC municipal work.
- Familiarity with DOT, MTA, and DDC projects, including various aspects of heavy civil construction (e.g., utilities, concrete, structural steel).
