Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings, and project specifications
- Study documentation, meet with clients, and inspect construction sites to fully understand project requirements
- Determine appropriate human and material resources for each project
- Obtain and evaluate multiple quotes for resources, selecting the most suitable offers
- Negotiate with service providers to secure competitive prices
- Outline work plans to estimate project timelines
- Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan
- Calculate overarching project costs, including resources and profit margins
- Draft detailed proposals outlining materials, costs, and timeframes
- Meet with clients to discuss and address concerns about estimates
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, architecture, or a related field
- Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a related role
- Proficiency in accounting and project management
- Strong understanding of technical and non-technical construction documents
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Outstanding research and proposal writing abilities
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and estimating software such as Timberline and HCSS HeavyBid
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to focus on details and multitask effectively
