Job Overview
We are looking for a diligent ESTIMATOR to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of costs and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You must be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.
Responsibilities
- Understand the project/program and its requirements
- Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
- Gather firsthand information from sites, warehouses or other venues (travel may be required)
- Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times, etc.
- Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting
- Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors
- Perform risk analysis
- Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitors etc.)
- Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
- Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.)
- Visit site locations to determine the scope of work.
Qualifications
- Organization: Utilizes strong organizational skills.
- Communication: Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.
- Problem Solving: Analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Project and MS Office Suite of products. BidMail, PlanGrid, BlueBeam and Procore experience is highly preferred. Minimum typing speed of 50 words/min.
- Construction: Must be able to read plans well enough to speak intelligently about the scope of work shown. Training is available but a basic knowledge should already be in place.
- Time Management: Must have the ability to stay on task and complete work in a timely manner, meet multiple concurring deadlines, and prioritize work effectively.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
- Thoroughness and reliability
- MUST have reliable transportation for on-site bid-walks
- Must have a valid CA driver's license
Experience
- Proven experience as ESTIMATOR or similar position
- Familiarity with financial and project management principles
- In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
- Exquisite math and IT ability with an analytical mindset
- Excellent organizational skills
- BSc/BA in Engineering, Construction Science or relevant
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset
- Commercial General Construction: Minimum 5 years of working experience in commercial general construction support role is preferred.

Job Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year based on proven experience
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8-hour shift
Work Location: In-person. Some travel will be required to conduct bid-walks at various project sites.
