Job description: As a Program Architect, you will work with project teams in a dynamic, rapid-growth work environment with bright and talented engineers, architects, designers, builders, crafters, and manufacturers to improve and deploy a prototype building program and to build an alternative to the traditional construction industry. From desk to factory floor to job sites and client meetings, you will be challenged to develop your skills in a new field, taking a critical role in project delivery via the DMC methodology

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. The Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This position involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to create detailed cost assessments, manage bids, and collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Estimate Preparation: Review and analyze construction plans, specifications, and other project documents to develop precise and comprehensive cost estimates.
Cost Analysis: Conduct quantity take-offs, material and labor cost analysis, and calculate unit rates based on project scope and requirements.
Bid Management: Prepare and manage competitive bids, respond to client inquiries, and adjust estimates based on changes in project specifications or requirements.
Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination: Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluate proposals, and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive project costs.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project execution, considering various factors that could impact project costs, such as site conditions, labor availability, and material shortages.
Project Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including bid proposals, cost summaries, and historical cost data for future reference.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to understand project goals, requirements, and budget constraints.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, construction materials, and labor costs to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
Cost Tracking and Budgeting: Assist in tracking project costs during construction and provide cost analysis to ensure adherence to the budget.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
5+ years in construction estimating, with experience in commercial estimating
Proven track record in cost estimation for [specific types of construction, e.g., residential, commercial, infrastructure]
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in estimating software such as ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project)
Other Skills:
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen eye for detail
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and cross-team collaboration
Understanding of construction materials, methods, and labor markets
