Construction Bookkeeper - Ledgent Finance & Accounting

About the Job
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our construction projects, handling release of liens. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Maintenance:
- Maintain and update accounting records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable specific to construction projects.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data related to construction contracts.
- Release of Liens:
- Prepare and manage release of lien documents for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure all lien waivers are properly executed and filed in accordance with project requirements.
- Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices, verify their accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Job Costing:
- Track and allocate costs to specific construction projects.
- Monitor project budgets and provide financial reports to project managers.
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure any discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Prepare financial reports for management, including job cost reports and financial statements.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilize accounting software and tools for financial management and reporting specific to the construction industry.
- Maintain proficiency in software applications relevant to bookkeeping functions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other departments to gather financial information and support project needs.
- Communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of bookkeeping experience in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software ( Sage 100 Contractor) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
- Office environment with standard working hours.
- Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods such as month-end and year-end closing.
Pay DOE $28 to $30
