We have an exciting opportunity for a Configuration and Requirements Systems Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If selected you will:
- Configuration Management- Develop and maintain configuration management plans, processes, and documentation.
- Establish and manage configuration baselines, ensuring traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Coordinate and oversee change control processes, including Change Control Boards (CCBs) and impact analysis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in configuration management tools.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards for configuration control.
- Configuration Engineering- Design and implement processes to manage configuration data, versioning, and integration.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure configurations meet technical and operational requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to improve configuration management workflows.
- Monitor and resolve configuration discrepancies, ensuring alignment between physical and digital systems.
- Create and manage configuration models for complex systems to support design and operational decisions.
- Requirements Systems Engineering- Lead requirements elicitation, analysis, and validation in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure alignment with design and testing.
- Support the decomposition of high-level requirements into detailed, actionable specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are met throughout the system lifecycle.
- Conduct requirements verification and validation activities, ensuring system performance meets customer expectations.
- Integration and Collaboration- Act as the primary interface between configuration management, engineering, and systems teams to ensure seamless communication and integration.
- Provide training and support to team members on configuration management and requirements processes.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to configuration and requirements management.
- Support audits, inspections, and reviews related to configuration and requirements compliance.
Qualifications:

- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience.
- 5+ years of experience in configuration management, configuration engineering, and/or systems engineering roles.
- Proficiency in configuration management and requirements engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, JIRA, PLM systems).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Previous experience with NASA-JSC Flight Projects and product delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Strong understanding of industry standards (e.g., ISO 10007, EIA-649, INCOSE SE Handbook, NASA SE Handbook). - Strong understanding of EA-WI-023, NPR-7120, and NPR-7123
- Experience with Agile, waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies.
- Certification in Configuration Management or Systems Engineering (e.g., CMII, CSEP) is a plus.
