Overview
Altorfer Power, a leading Caterpillar dealer involved in the sales and service of engines, generator sets, and associated equipment, is seeking a dynamic candidate for the position of Condition Monitoring Analyst
The Engine-Generator Condition Monitoring Analyst is responsible for the comprehensive monitoring and analysis of engine-generator systems to ensure optimal performance and operational efficiency
This role involves using advanced diagnostic tools and data to anticipate and mitigate potential issues, improving uptime and system reliability
In addition to monitoring, the analyst will manage customer relationships, provide technical support, and coordinate with internal teams to deliver seamless service
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and an ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
Basic Duties
Monitor and analyze real-time data from engine-generator systems, including critical performance metrics (temperatures, pressures, alarm codes, fuel, oil, and coolant lab results, etc.).
Track and analyze customer-owned equipment and Power rental fleet, reviewing variables such as SOS reports, VisionLink data, service letters, machine inspection reports, site conditions, and equipment repair history.
Conduct trend analysis and data evaluation to detect abnormalities and provide actionable insights for preventive maintenance.
Attend customer site meetings for upcoming asset monitoring hardware installations, providing detailed hand-offs to service operations teams to execute installs effectively.
Oversee customer access to Caterpillar's online applications, ensuring proper linkage of accounts and necessary Data Authorization forms are on file.
Conduct customer and internal training on telematics devices and Caterpillar digital platforms, offering ongoing technical support.
Provide subject matter expertise on hardware/software issues for telematics devices, including troubleshooting and firmware updates.
Manage new engine deliveries and activation opportunities, coordinating telematics installations with the Sales and Service teams.
Perform site walks with Product Support Sales Representatives (PSSR) and customers to create solutions for system connectivity and assist with hardware recommendations/quoting.
Troubleshoot and analyze engine-generator failures, identifying root causes and generating sales proposals for service opportunities.
Coordinate with Technical Services to communicate with Caterpillar regarding updates, product problems, field follow projects, and special claims.
Maintain up-to-date records of all monitoring activities and system interventions.
Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or related technical field, or 10 years of equivalent mechanic experience.
3-5 years of experience working in construction, agriculture, or power systems industry is preferred.
Proven engine, electrical, and emissions troubleshooting and repair skills.
Proficiency in condition monitoring software, diagnostics, and telematics platforms (e.g., VisionLink).
Familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and other software platforms.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data in clear, actionable formats.
Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical schooling or advanced degree preferred.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report required for final candidates).
Commitment to safety protocols, including the ability to wear required safety equipment.
