Fountaingate Gardens is Long Island’s newest Independent Living Community for active adults 62 years and older, located on the 36-acre Gurwin Healthcare System Life Plan Community campus in Commack. This unique, vibrant community is home to 129 elegant apartment homes in two residential buildings and boasts a beautiful and lively Clubhouse for resident and team member use that includes an indoor, saltwater pool, two dining options, a state-of-the-art fitness center, art studio, theater and more.
Fountaingate Gardens is part of the renowned Gurwin Healthcare System, which includes an assisted living community, two nursing and rehabilitation centers offering a variety of specialty care, two home care programs and an adult day care program. We are currently seeking a full-time Concierge who will be scheduled from 2:00pm-10:00pm or 3:00pm-11:00pm with rotating weekends.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTION: Responsible for providing high-level concierge services and communication to residents and guests. Directly responsible for greeting all individuals who enter the community in an appropriate, professional, warm manner. The concierge will answer all telephone calls with a cheerful demeanor while providing innovative problem-solving coordination for all requests. Responds to all requests promptly while maintaining a collaborative effort with the team to fulfill all resident or guest needs. In addition, the concierge maintains the community entrance, individual workspace, and surrounding environment in a clean and tidy manner.
Essential Job Functions
Ø Maintain a professional manner, attitude, and dress. Maintain a friendly and collaborative demeanor with peers, board members, applicants, guests, residents, and others.
Ø Creates a welcoming environment for all parties in the community while greeting each individual formally.
Ø Remain calm and courteous under challenging situations while assisting all parties in the community.
Ø Maintains the status of each individual entering the community to reinforce security efforts while accurately providing other team members updates.
Ø Communicates all information to interested parties, including inter-office, guests, vendors, or others. Must maintain a discreet manner and approach sensitive or confidential information, directing information to the Executive Director immediately when needed.
Ø Provides all guests with a choice of available beverage and coat services upon entry.
Ø Able to direct all traffic to the appropriate place or team member in the community.
Ø Able to receive marketing calls and walk-ins in a friendly manner while collecting pertinent information for the sales staff. Promptly identify the sales team to provide the call or walk-in to, establishing a seamless transition.
Ø Assists all departments with projects in setup, organizing, or clerical needs.
Ø Able to self-initiate tasks while openly collaborating with other parties when needed.
Ø Maintains the lobby, entrance, and concierge areas in a clean, tidy, and organized manner. Straightens all décor or furniture to maintain a high-level presentation while providing cleaning to specific areas when needed.
Ø Able to always provide resident relations, including support with scheduling transportation, reminder calls, staff directory, or problem-solving.
Ø Able to work efficiently in all aspects of job duties, including prioritizing assigned work.
Ø Communicate all vital information efficiently, accurately, and promptly to the appropriate party.
Ø Performs other duties as assigned by Community Experience Director, Marketing and Sales Director, Executive Director, or designee.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications
Ø High School graduate or equivalent; college coursework preferred. Ability to understand and follow instructions while demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Experience in a business, hospitality, or senior living work environment preferred. Great attention to detail and customer service is essential.
Ø Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must always demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Must demonstrate an ability to maintain tact in difficult and complex situations, including demands from many aspects of the community. Demonstrates competency in following through with tasks efficiently while referring requests to the appropriate individual.

Will be exposed to highly confidential information; must demonstrate confidentiality, and only disclose with the Executive Director or others specifically directed by the Executive Director.
Ø Safety
Requires ability to read, understand and follow community emergency procedures and all other safety rules and regulations related to the community or local ordinances.
Ø Degree of Travel
Minimal local travel. May be required to use community vehicles as needed.
Ø Working Conditions
Clean, well-lighted residential and office environment. Varying levels of noise, activity, and possible interruption. Must be able to manage all office equipment and software competently.
Physical Requirements
Ø Must be able to sit and stand for long periods.
Ø Must be able to use telephone and computer for long periods, up to 90% of work time.
Ø Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
Ø Must be able to push and pull up to 30 pounds.
Ø Must be able to stand for varying durations.
Ø Must be able to twist, bend, and walk to maintain walkways and surrounding workspace or complete tasks.
