Job Overview
The role of a Lead Engineer involves leading the engineering efforts for various design projects at the
National Carbon Capture Center. These projects span across large-scale capital investments and
maintenance (including upgrades) within environmental sectors, R&D for gas and renewables, control
systems, and electric utility distribution systems. The individual will oversee engineering aspects
including scope, budget, and timelines, and will be the primary engineering liaison for project managers.
Additionally, this person ensures the preparation, review, and distribution of detailed construction
packages to all involved parties.
The Lead Engineer collaborates with design teams to secure appropriate and skilled resources for
projects, manages changes in scope, budget, and timelines, and develops strategies to address these
changes. This role involves identifying key learnings, facilitating the resolution of engineering and
supplier issues, and maintaining meticulous project documentation across various management
platforms.
Technical & Leadership Qualifications:
Background in one or more of the following areas:
Engineering design or project management, specifically in procurement, construction, and
startup of industrial or chemical systems.
Leadership experience, either formally or informally guiding teams.
Experience in supporting or working within chemical plant operations or facility operations (e.g.,
Pulp and Paper, Chemical, Oil).
Proficient in managing budgets and schedules.
Skilled in project change management.
Strong analytical abilities for risk assessment and problem-solving.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Comprehensive understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction
methodologies.
Excellent organizational and leadership capabilities.
Ability to assemble and direct a diverse team.
Effective at balancing project demands with customer needs.
Skilled in relationship-building across various operational units.
Demonstrated ability in diagnosing problems, analyzing systems, and formulating strategies in electrical and control domains, through education or professional experience.
A proactive approach to learning and skill development.
Preferably knowledgeable in process instrumentation.
Additional Qualities:

Experience with code application and the ability to interpret and implement codes and standards is advantageous.
