Job Overview:
Computer Support Specialist candidates will play a crucial role in activities related to the COVID-19 outbreak in healthcare facilities statewide, including data collection, analysis, and support. These positions will be integral members of the Center for Data Architecture, Intelligence & Support (DAIS).
Minimum Education:
- Well organized, detail-oriented individuals with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced setting with the ability to multitask and work with complex databases
- Effective communication skills with consumers, providers, and staff
- Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries and mapping databases
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or Tableau is a plus
Job Duties:
- Analyze data and validate COVID-19 statistics for hospitals and long-term care providers
- Maintain and enhance databases used for COVID-19-related tasks
- Generate and consolidate ad hoc reports for DOH staff to prioritize COVID-19 survey follow-up with long-term care providers
- Manage and update data pipelines feeding the OALTC Data Lake
- Document data assets and maintain data dictionaries
- Coordinate with ITS to ensure timely installation of software and hardware on DAIS employee devices
- Provide general computer support and troubleshooting
- Conduct training sessions for DOH staff on data tools and best practices
- Assist with special assignments and projects as assigned
Miscellaneous Information:
- Work hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Candidates may be asked to work nights and weekends as needed to respond to COVID-19 emergencies.
- Free parking is available at the job location,
- Job location is accessible by bus (Central Avenue in Albany near the intersection with Everett Rd).
- The interview process will take place in person.
- Training will be provided for the position.
