Position Overview:
The Comptroller will assist in overseeing the financial operations of Missouri Enterprise and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, accounting standards, and grant requirements. This position plays a key role in managing financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, and grant financial management, all while supporting the organization's overall mission. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Assist in the Management of day-to-day financial operations, including oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget and assist with financial forecasting for programmatic and organizational needs.
- Grant Management: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and funder expectations. Manage the tracking and reconciliation of restricted funds.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles (GAAP).
- Audit & Compliance: Assist in the Coordination and Management of the audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure financial statements meet legal and regulatory standards.
- Internal Controls: Assist in the Implementation and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support decision-making and ensure the financial sustainability of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in accounting or financial management, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit accounting and grant management.
- Grant Experience: Proven experience managing and reporting on restricted grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, and maintaining proper documentation and records.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of nonprofit financial reporting, grant management, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex financial data and reports.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
