Description:
- Composite Panel Fabrication: Assemble composite panels and spars, ensuring alignment with engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Spar & Panel Assembly: Position and secure composite materials to fabricate spar structures, ribs, and skins for sub-assembly components.
- Trimming & Fitting: Cut, trim, and fit composite panels and pieces to exact dimensions, ensuring precision in sub-assembly.
- Bonding & Adhesives: Apply bonding agents, resins, and adhesives to join composite materials, ensuring a high-quality finish.
- Tooling & Jig Setup: Use jigs, molds, and fixtures for precision assembly and component alignment.
- Quality Control: Perform inspections during and after assembly, verifying dimensions, tolerances, and material quality.
- Collaboration: Liaise with engineers, quality teams, and production managers to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Lean Manufacturing: Participate in continuous improvement activities, focusing on optimizing assembly processes and reducing waste.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a composite technician or in a related aerospace assembly role, focusing on panel and spar fabrication.
- Experience with composite materials, particularly in a sub-assembly environment.
- Prior experience working on Airbus programs or under Airbus specifications is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with composite fabrication processes, including bonding, cutting, trimming, and fitting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment while adhering to safety standards.
- Ability to stand, bend, and handle materials throughout the shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Airbus projects and knowledge of Airbus-specific manufacturing practices.
- Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Hands-on experience in the assembly of complex composite components, such as spars and panels.
- Knowledge of NDI (Non-Destructive Inspection) is beneficial.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Technical or vocational training in composites technology, aerospace manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
