Job Summary:
This position requires the preparation and layup of precut composite materials into assembly components
in accordance with process specifications. This position also requires the preparation of small to large
layup assemblies for the curing process. May be required to assist higher grade Technicians.
Job Responsibilities:
* Works from specifications, blueprints, oral and written instructions to record pertinent adhesive
information, form and lay-up component parts and assemblies such as fiberglass, graphite, and
Kevlar in proper relationship according to standard shop practices where tooling and holding
fixtures are usually available, and to perform a variety of operations necessary to prepare
composite parts and assemblies for autoclave or oven curing process. Requires the ability to plan
and perform a sequence of operations where standard lay-up methods are available. Must
comply with the different parts configuration and geometry when laying up composite assemblies.
* Selects proper holding fixtures, bonding materials, proper size bleeders, bagging materials, and
specified materials. Fit and align component parts in proper sequence and specific location in
bond fixture. Uses care to avoid contamination of surfaces from foreign substances such as dust
or release agents. Applies various adhesives to bond component parts together. Must also trim,
fit, and seal bleeder and bag over areas to be bonded to obtain uniform vacuum pressure.
Connects hose to port and checks for leaks, wrinkles, tears, and proper seal.
* May cut away bagging materials and remove excess material or tape from holding fixtures. Uses
measuring devices, and hand and power tools as required.
* Responsible only for quality of own work.
* Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
Experience:
No experience required.
Working Conditions:
Good working conditions in temperature-controlled environment where protective clothing is worn.
This role is eligible for a $4,000 (pre-tax) sign-on bonus. Terms & conditions apply. The Company reserves the right to amend or suspend this program at any time.
Kansas Tax Credit:
