The Compliance Specialist (CS) is responsible for monitoring an assigned portfolio of properties to ensure applicable program compliance standards are met. The CS will be responsible for reviewing assigned regulatory agreements, program requirements as well as prepare compliance reports, collection and tracking of data in an effort to monitor compliance of each assigned property. The CS will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of properties assigned by the Compliance Director and provide support to the site staff and Portfolio Managers.
Pay: $30 / Hour
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the program compliance of assigned portfolio (housing programs vary by property and assigned portfolio)
- Assist with UA information updates, rent/income limits and annual adjustments in software
- Monitor the ongoing compliance of program requirements including timely annual certification process, Income limit updates, Max rent limits, Excess Rents, Set-asides, various Service agreements
- Assist in monitoring proper selection from the Waitlist, maintaining proper set-aside requirements, Income Targeting, VAWA, and EIV reporting (if applicable)
- Assist with internal FPI Manager Certification updates with direction from Compliance Director
- Maintain positive, professional and effective communication with onsite staff, Portfolio Managers and Compliance team members
- Keep immediate supervisor informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems
- Timely update of all internal tracking systems
- Provide timely responses and reports to clients and various agencies
- Assist during the initial qualifying process of NEW construction lease-up properties and/or acquisition/rehab of existing properties
- Assist in obtaining and review applicable Regulatory agreements for proper setup of software and internal systems/trackers
- Attend and/or monitor coverage, preparation and responses due to State or Federal agencies audits
- Provide affordable program compliance support to onsite staff
- Provide compliance training to onsite staff at the direction of the Compliance Director
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times in the presence of employees, clients and residents and follow Dress Code policy
- Overnight and air travel may be required
- Consistently and fairly enforce FPI Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Comply with all Fair Housing Laws
- Perform any and all functions as directed by supervisor including special project assistance
- Promote a professional image by adhering to FPI Management Dress Code Policy
- Perform duties and functions as assigned by the Regional Compliance Manager (if applicable) and Compliance Director
Other Job Functions:
- Perform any and all functions as directed by the supervisor, including special project assistance
- Responsible for meeting all training requirements for the position- including Grace Hill, Safety Meetings, etc.
- Comply with all FPI policies and procedure
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in affordable program compliance and/or affordable property management experience including but not limited to: LIHTC, HUD, USDA-RD, HCD, HOME, Bond
- Strong administrative skills, highly motivated and organized with a positive attitude
- Competent analytical skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and excellent reporting ability
- Valid driver’s license and insured operable vehicle
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English
- Preferred affordable housing certifications including but not limited to: NCHM, AHMA, NAHB, NCP, etc.
