About the Job
The Tax Credit Compliance Auditor will be responsible for ensuring that all tax credit units adhere to the regulatory agreements. This includes: preparing and reviewing income certifications and re-certification's, tax credit compliance and maintaining the property management database system for information required for compliance and management purposes. They will conduct all job related duties in compliance with LIHTC guidelines, other housing contracts and equal housing opportunity laws. The Tax Credit Compliance Auditor will be responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program and will embody a customer service philosophy whereby the clients, residents, managers, and site associates are their customers.
Responsibilities:The Tax Credit Compliance Auditor will conduct all business in accordance with Gates Hudson’s established policies and procedures, all Federal, State, County and Local Fair Housing Laws, Americans with Disabilities Act, OSHA requirements, and all other laws pertaining to multifamily housing.
- Review and audit resident file and Yardi system compliance for various affordable programs.
- Monitor and audit accuracy of Tenant Income Certification, to ensure proper documentation is in the file and in Yardi.
- Provide feedback to property manager & regional manager on audit results and provide additional training on errors found.
- Provide daily phone and e-mail support for properties regarding Yardi Affordable and other technical programs.
- Schedule, prepare classroom facilities and conduct training for on-site associates on Yardi’s Affordable software.
- Create or modify training materials for web-based and live training classes.
- Maintain good communications with external compliance auditors and get issues resolved quickly and accurately.
- Assist with meeting reporting requirements to external entities.
- Lead lease file audits during due diligence; perform rent roll setup and assist in acquisition setups and dispositions
- Perform property file audits and re-audits as needed
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) designation preferred (for LIHTC).
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an onsite leasing consultant.
- One (1) year of experience in LIHTC communities.
