About the Legal & Regulatory Group:

The Legal & Regulatory Group is responsible for partnering with Bridgewater businesses to protect the legal and regulatory interests of the firm and its clients and managing legal and regulatory risk to ensure that employees act in accordance with the highest legal and ethical standards. Our group maintains in-house expertise in many areas, including corporate, investment management, private funds, intellectual property, employment and commercial law and compliance. The team works closely with a broad range of departments within the firm and manages relationships with external counsel and regulatory consultants.

About the Role:

The Compliance Analyst (the "Analyst") will be expected to contribute on day one.  Together with other members of the team, the Analyst will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Bridgewater's regulatory obligations.  While expected to contribute across all areas of the compliance program, core responsibilities will involve serving as the primary advisory and operational partner to one of the following practice areas within Bridgewater's Compliance Team, which include: Ethics, Conduct Risk & Controls, Investments, Client Service and Marketing, and Regulatory Interactions.  Specific assignment will depend on the Compliance Team's needs as well as the Analyst's aptitude and interest.

You will drive the following responsibilities:

The Analyst may be expected to participate in: 

• advising Bridgewater's front office personnel on regulatory matters,
• managing and overseeing vendor relationships and work product,
• assisting with regulatory filings, and
• managing the implementation of new or evolving regulatory obligations, which will involve liaising with external counsel, drafting policies and procedures, setting standards, and developing and implementing appropriate monitoring or testing.

In addition to these day-to-day responsibilities, the Analyst will also be expected to work with senior leaders in the Legal and Regulatory Group on strategic initiatives and essential workstreams.  For a high achiever, this strategic work is expected to increase over time and ultimately the scope of the role will be limited only by the abilities and dedication of the person inhabiting it.

• 1-3 years at a law firm and/or in-house legal or compliance team
• Excellent organizational skills and reliability meeting deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft excel and general comfort analyzing data to make informed business decisions
• High intellectual horsepower, agility, and curiosity
• Comfort operating proactively and independently while simultaneously not being afraid to ask for help when required
• Strong project management and oversight capabilities; willingness to hold others accountable to deadlines and obligations
• Strong interpersonal skills; professional, team-oriented with strong work ethic and a "can-do, will-do" attitude
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Preferred interest in understanding financial markets and instruments

Physical Requirements

For most of our roles, Bridgewater offers remote work flexibility, with most employees required to work on campus as their principal work location, a minimum of two days (and in some cases three days) per week with the option to work offsite on other days.

Compensation

The wage range for this role is $110,000-$165,000 inclusive of base salary and discretionary target bonus. The expected base salary for this role is between 80% - 90% of this wage range.
