SKILLED MAINTENANCE
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND
TASKS:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, changing belts machinery as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working condition
- Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime for machine
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed
- Prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as needed
- Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required
- Make necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required
- Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Vocational certificate in appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.) preferred
- Ability to take and pass internal required testing
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment
- Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred
- Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
- Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) as business need requires
- Ability to work in cold/ humid or hot/ dusty environments as needed
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, etc. with ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
- Must be able to visually inspect machines
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
