Within the Boston Red Sox Nutrition Department, the focus is fortifying player health, enhancing recovery, and optimizing performance. Our team aims to provide the best available quality, quantity and variety for our meals, snacks, and supplements, ensuring peak physical and mental condition.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox Organization is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Sports Dietitian to serve as our Complex Dietitian. This role is responsible for managing nutrition programming and foodservice operations for the Florida Coast League (FCL) team in Fort Myers, FL, and the Dominican Republic Red Sox team (DCL) in Santo Domingo, DR. The role will operate out of Fort Myers, Florida. Key responsibilities include individualized nutrition counseling, performance-based interventions, and leading education initiatives, all while fostering collaboration with interdisciplinary staff to optimize athlete performance. Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foodservice Management:
- Develop and oversee menus that meet the nutritional needs of athletes.
- Manage pre-game, during-game, and post-game fueling strategies.
- Implement and monitor recovery and hydration protocols to ensure peak physical condition.
- Coordinate with road caterers and vendors to maintain consistent, high-quality nutrition while traveling.
- Nutrition Counseling:
- Provide individualized nutrition plans focused on performance enhancement, injury prevention, and overall health.
- Conduct body composition testing and analysis to tailor interventions.
- Perform hydration testing and analysis to optimize fluid strategies.
- Utilize blood testing and nutritional analysis to inform dietary adjustments.
- Monitor and refine plans to achieve optimal athlete outcomes.
- Nutrition Education:
- Lead group and individual educational sessions on topics such as hydration, recovery, supplementation, and healthy eating habits.
- Develop engaging educational materials to enhance athletes' understanding of nutrition’s impact on performance.
- Stay updated with the latest research and trends in sports nutrition to deliver evidence-based recommendations.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with coaches, strength staff, and medical personnel to integrate nutrition strategies into athlete care and training programs.
- Maintain detailed records of nutrition plans, counseling sessions, and athlete progress.
- Communicate effectively to provide support and guidance for athletes in achieving their nutritional goals.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
- At least two (2) years of experience in sports nutrition, preferably with professional or collegiate athletes.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Strong understanding of athletes’ unique nutritional needs and the ability to create tailored plans.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel from Fort Myers, FL to Santo Domingo, DR, as required.
- CSSD – Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics is preferred.
- Experience working with baseball players or within a team environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of foodservice management and menu planning is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
