About the Job
Washington County is currently hiring Community Service Officers. This is a non-sworn uniformed member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Community Service Officers play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining public safety within our community. They work alongside law enforcement officials to provide a variety of services to citizens, including responding to non-emergency incidents, assisting with traffic control, providing crime prevention education, and conducting community outreach programs. The flexible schedule for this position makes it an ideal option for those attending school for law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.) Must be 18 years of age or older timeof hire; AND
2.)Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license or equivalent out of state driver's license or ability to obtain by time of hire; AND
3.) Enrolled, attending, or completed school for law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field; AND
4.) Must enroll in a POST approved (Peace Officer Standards Training) law enforcement program by the date of appointment. This enrollment must be maintained throughout employment until the date of graduation from the program. The Community Service Officer position is a transition position into Deputy Sheriff for Washington County. A Community Services Officer must qualify and be appointed as a Deputy Sheriff within the anniversary date of four-year service in this class.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience as a Community Service Officer.
Prior experience working for a law enforcement agency.
Prior experience working in a customer service role.
SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
HOURS / DAYS: 20 hours per week. Flexible hours and days based on the needs of the department and the Community Service Officer's needs, including weekends. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.
ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: Approximately $22.00-$23.00 per hour.
