Community Living Supervisor/Behavior Support Specialist
$49,899.20 Salary
Typical work schedule: M-F 10AM-6PM. However, will be expected to work outside of these hours including weekends if needed.

Summary of Community Living Supervisor/Behavior Support Specialist Role:
Organization providing support to persons with intellectual disabilities is accepting applications for community living supervisor. Position will encompass community living and community based service programs. Applicant will be responsible for supervising staff who work with individuals with challenging behaviors, varying medical needs, scheduling and handling personnel matters.

Requirements for the Community Living Supervisor/Behavior Support Specialist Role:
- Must have High School Diploma, GED, or Work-Keys Bronze Certificate. BA/BS degree or some college courses in human services field preferred.
- One (1) year experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities required. Previous supervisory experience and experience working with people needing behavioral support preferred.
- Be at least 18 years old
- Valid Driver's License for a minimum of two years with a good driving record.
- Pass drug and alcohol screenings
- Pass criminal background checks
- Must be available for 2-4 weeks of PAID training, M-F 8:30am-5:00pm.
- ASL (American Sign Language) preferred
General Responsibilities of the Community Living Supervisor/Behavior Support Specialist Role:
- Supervise the operations of the Supervised Living Program
- Assure the files of persons served contain all necessary information and are properly maintained according to prescribed guidelines.
- Facilitate and support the development and maintenance of person served support networks, including family members, guardians, and external service providers.
- Assure all procedures in the Health Maintenance Practices manual are followed.
- Review and provide follow up regarding incident reports and medication issues/errors.
- Serve as a representative of the Person-Centered Support Plan (PCSP) team; and attend psychiatric medication reviews, BASIS assessments, and other meetings as needed for persons served.
- Assure all PCSP objectives are promptly initiated, implemented, and maintained until completed and/or discontinued.
- Assure all documentation (whether paper or electronic) is completed accurately and timely by the Community Living Trainers/Behavior Support Specialists (CLT/BSS's).
- Promptly review and process all weekly, monthly, and yearly paperwork and forward to appropriate department(s).
- Complete quality assurance checks at each setting as required.
- Follow up on quality assurance concerns as identified on review checklists conducted by the quality assurance department and health services.
- Assure that CLT/BSS's are following all procedures as outlined in the Community Living (CL) training manual.
- Assure that services are being delivered according to each person's PCSP and in response to their needs.
- Follow up on maintenance concerns at CL settings and with Starkey vehicles.
- Assure that nutritious, balanced menus are being developed, posted, and provided to persons served.
- Review and approve supply orders and purchase requisitions.
- Assure that CLT/BSS's are trained and utilize approved behavior management techniques per organizational policy as outlined in the behavior plan and/or PCSP.
- Assure the CL settings meet safety and health regulations.
- Communicate issues and concerns to the Assistant Director and/or Director of Community Living in a professional and timely manner.
- Visit and monitor each CL setting on at least a weekly basis while persons served and staff are present, and complete logs to document visits.
- Assure that the CL settings meet or exceed licensing and accreditation requirements.
- Assist and coordinate moves for persons served and complete move checklist for each move.
- Maintain regular contact with and follow up with staff, persons served, guardians, and family members regarding complaints and issues.
- Assure that inventories are completed for persons served upon move-in and maintained as needed.
- Support and train staff to actively engage persons served in meaningful activities and training opportunities.
- Provide for the individualization of services and supports to ensure the maximum benefit possible to each person served.
- Provide supervision and coverage of duties for co-workers who are taking PTO or otherwise absent.
- Advocate for resources needed to manage assigned responsibilities; collaborate with the assistant director and director of CL and with finance staff in the identification of potential savings and the development of the budget, monitor cost center expenditures, and take corrective action, when needed, to stay within the budget.
