**Position Summary** **:**
Serves as Community Liaison for state-funded contract (Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding and Lactation Friendly NY)
**Purpose:**
Provides support to Sr. Project Coordinator/Project Manager for all aspects of the project including but not limited to professional-level liaison, technical support, education, and other services (as directed) for breastfeeding, chestfeeding and lactation related initiatives at healthcare practices, worksites, childcare settings, Baby Cafes/support groups, the breastfeeding coalition and throughout the community.
**Position Summary:**
Under general guidance from the Sr. Project Coordinator/Project Mgr. and/or Project Director, and with latitude for independent judgment, provides day-to- day professional support for the Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding and Lactation Friendly New York project in the areas of focus inclusive of the City of Rochester and Town of Gates. Must work well with others as part of a team and demonstrate ability to coordinate activities across multiple project initiatives.
With oversight and guidance from the Sr. Project Coordinator/ Mgr. and/or Project Director conduct lactation related initiatives within targeted areas of focus by initiating and maintaining professional relationships, assisting with developing and conducting needs assessments, providing technical support, and developing and shaping partnership strategies. This includes the creation and implementation of lactation policies and developing, coordinating and providing lactation education training, education and support referrals.
Under the guidance of the Sr. Coordinator/Project Manager, the Community Liaison will maintain regular communication and technical support between project team and community partners to ensure we achieve the deliverables. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills are required as well as organization and problem-solving abilities. Must demonstrate the ability to interact professionally with community-based stakeholders, providers, staff, and administrators – both in person and via online platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams). Must work well as part of a team and independently.
In coordination with the Project Director and Sr. Coordinator/Manager, this position involves responsibilities that require independent judgment, scheduling, assisting with day-to-day logistics, materials development and inventory, and both short- and long-term strategies for meeting work plan deliverables. This position will provide the project with the ability to provide timely follow-up support of new and existing community partners (e.g., healthcare practices, childcare centers, support group hosts, worksites, etc.)
**Specific Responsibilities**
+ Assist with assessments of community partners and policy development/enhancements.
+ Assist with ordering and inventory control of program supplies including gathering appropriate materials/supplies and delivering them, as warranted, within our areas of focus.
+ Maintaining a working knowledge of breastfeeding, chestfeeding and lactation best practices by reviewing research literature/abstracts, attending pertinent meetings/seminars, and BF Coalition meetings.
+ Maintain a working knowledge of relevant breastfeeding/chestfeeding expertise by reviewing research literature and abstracts, attending pertinent meetings, seminars (e.g., team meetings, collaborative calls, webinars, and NY DOH meetings and teleconference calls).
+ In conjunction with the project team, coordinate project activities with community partners and healthcare practices “champion” teams in the creation of and/or updating of lactation policy/ operational protocols, including developing each system’s staff training plans. Assist with the implementation of interventions in targeted organizations providing technical support and training.
+ Assist in providing direction within the project for all interventions/strategies. Collaborate with project team members to analyze and strategize to achieve deliverables, including:
+ Implementing breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation supports in health care practices (e.g., Federally Qualified Health Centers; obstetric, family medicine, midwifery, and pediatric practices, WIC).
+ Implementing breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation supports in worksites.
+ Develop or expand upon breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation support groups.
+ Build, expand, and/or activate a breastfeeding coalition in the community(s) of focus.
+ Conduct communication and sustainability activities. Implement breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation supports in community and public spaces in conjunction with BF coalition.
Tasks/strategies include but are not limited to:
+ Conducting needs assessment of community, healthcare and childcare partners/collaborators.
+ Meeting with decision-makers (e.g., Quality Improvement, Medical Directors/Nurse Managers, Program Coordinators, WIC, Support Group Facilitators, etc.).
+ Developing and implementing a timeline for systems adoption steps. Analyze progress and provide feedback to champions and decision-makers. Identify and obtain commitment from dedicated staff to conduct performance responsibilities related to sustainability (e.g., develop a training plan to ensure all new staff are informed of the policy/protocol and receive/complete training
+ Assist with sustainability activities, earned media initiatives and legislative visits.
+ Assist with implementation of project deliverables by project team/subcontractors within timelines.
+ Assist with information gathering from team members and community partners for development of agendas, preparation of training and meeting materials, notes and recommendations.
+ In conjunction with Sr. Coordinator/Project Manager coordinate conference calls between Grant Management Team and partner organizations, including developing agendas and ensuring meaningful updates. Help assess progress and help develop recommendations based on NYSDOH required deliverables.
+ Help track administrative commitments to policy improvements within target organizations, including templates, recommended policy elements, timelines, and sustainability.
+ Network and collaborate with diverse community groups in areas of focus for mobilization to meet project objectives.
+ In conjunction with the project team prepares performance measures/ quarterly reports/ annual progress reports as indicated in work plan.
+ Assists with the purchase of appropriate project supplies and equipment and helps track inventory.
+ Assists with budget management in a fiscally responsible manner.
+ Assist with/participate in occasional special events (e.g., World Breastfeeding Week, Black Breastfeeding Week, Rochester Regional BF Coalition CE events, marketing Baby Cafes).
+ May require occasional evening or weekend hours.

**Requirements:**
Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in appropriate health/social science, nursing, or related field – including but not limited to public health, nutrition, and dietetics -- and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideal candidate would have experience in breastfeeding/lactation support/education and project coordination. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Proficient computer skills with knowledge of word processing, database utilities, internet navigation, social media/email programs required. Effective time management required.
Must have independent transportation for travel throughout the areas of focus in Monroe County, and to other specified meeting locations for project activities.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $19.00 - $34.70 Hourly

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
