Position Reports To: SVP Community Impact
Position Summary: United Way of Coastal and Western CT seeks a passionate and dedicated Community Engagement Coordinator to play a pivotal role in fostering strong community connections, supporting vital programs, and driving impactful change throughout Fairfield County. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with excellent organizational skills, a deep commitment to community service, and a proactive approach to engagement and partnership-building.
Responsibilities
Community Engagement
Lead and coordinate engagement efforts at events, fostering connections and promoting United Way initiatives across Fairfield County.
Collaborate with Cradle to Careers to ensure event coverage and representation, enhancing outreach and impact.
Coordinate contracted community engagement efforts such as the CT United Ways Unemployment Focus Group project.
Provide support with Community Councils, facilitating members' collaboration and communication.
Organize and coordinate community leader coffee events, providing networking opportunities and discussions on key community issues.
Develop and distribute a community impact newsletter to keep stakeholders informed about United Way initiatives, events, and accomplishments.
ALICE Fund Program Administration
Oversee the administration of the ALICE Critical Needs Fund, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to address critical community needs.
Collaborate closely with nonprofit and government partners to administer the fund, fostering effective and impactful distribution while prioritizing equitable access.
Utilize USIO technology to streamline the distribution process, enhancing efficiency and transparency in resource allocation.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Development department to provide data and stories for fundraising efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and goals.
Partnership Development
Cultivate and maintain partnerships with nonprofit organizations, collaborating to address community challenges and maximize impact through diverse and inclusive partnerships.
Attend community meetings, trainings, and workshops to remain knowledgeable about trends, needs, and gaps in the community with an emphasis on understanding and addressing disparities.
Data Management and Analysis
Identify, track, and collect program data to assess impact and inform decision-making.
Create and maintain program reports to analyze data and evaluate effectiveness.
Manage data collection and input across various systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and completion of all necessary United Way reports.
Special Projects Administration and Support
Assist in the Impact Philanthropy process by assessing community needs and aspirations through engagement with stakeholders.
Support Heart of Gold scholarship process in Stamford and other communities as needed.
Lead and manage time-limited special projects as assigned, ensuring clear timelines, objectives, and deliverables are met.
Other Responsibilities as Needed
Stay abreast of trends and new developments in philanthropy and social justice movements.
Serve as UWCWC spokesperson and subject matter expert at campaign kickoffs, and other partner events as necessary.
Attend community meetings, trainings, and workshops to remain knowledgeable about trends, needs, and gaps in the community with an emphasis on understanding and addressing disparities.
Assist in the coordination of volunteer activities and engagement efforts.
Conduct research and analysis on community issues and trends as requested.
Collaborate with other departments or teams within the organization to achieve shared goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, nonprofit administration, or related field.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proven track record of collaboration and partnership-building with community organizations and stakeholders.
Proficiency in technology platforms such as Constant Contact, ECimpact, USIO, Survey Monkey, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint).
Knowledge of Fairfield County communities, their needs, and resources is preferred.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel weekly across the Fairfield County footprint.
Valid Connecticut Driver’s License and minimum required insurance coverage.
Availability for occasional annual United Way or related conference attendance as determined by supervisor.
