Job Details
We are seeking a skilled Condominium Association Attorney to join our Community Association Practice Group in Fort Lauderdale.
This role involves providing comprehensive legal counsel and representation to condominium and homeowners’ associations, ensuring compliance with Florida laws and protecting the interests of association boards and members.
- Legal Counsel: Advise association boards and management teams on governing documents, statutory compliance, contracts, disputes, and operational issues.
- Litigation Support: Represent associations in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and administrative hearings, including collections, covenant enforcement, and construction defect disputes.
- Drafting and Review: Prepare, review, and amend governing documents, contracts, resolutions, and policies.
- Compliance and Training: Conduct legal audits of association operations and provide training to board members on fiduciary duties, governance, and relevant legislation.
- Dispute Resolution: Negotiate and resolve conflicts involving residents, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Legislative Updates: Monitor and communicate changes in Florida condominium law and their implications for clients.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in community association law, real estate, or related practice areas.
- Strong knowledge of Florida condominium and homeowners’ association statutes (e.g., Chapter 718, Chapter 720).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts.
- Familiarity with construction law and vendor contract negotiations.
- Demonstrated ability to foster strong client relationships.
