POSITION SCOPE:
The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always home to 68 residents. The Communications Manager is responsible for ensuring the organization maintains a positive image by overseeing and approving any company information or announcements before they are released to the public. The communication manager is also responsible for viewing any promotional or marketing materials to ensure they represent a positive image of the company prior to being published. This position is also responsible for all communications with a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to media outlets, the local community, MCC families, donors and friends and the Board. The Communications Manager is charged with championing the Guiding Principles and mission of The Center in a manner which fosters an environment where MCC residents live with respect, personal dignity and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Communications Manager must be a positive role model who works effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, respites, Board of Directors, staff, families, volunteers, vendors, professional consultants and the physical environment of The Center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The Communications Manager at The Mary Campbell Center must 1) be a good person of high character who demonstrates compassion and understanding, consistently works with a positive attitude and advocates effectively on behalf of residents who have varying degrees of disabilities; 2) hold a BS or BA degree in Communications, English, Marketing, Public Relations or related field with 2-3 years' experience; 3) demonstrate ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, be strong in public speaking, writing/editing, be proficient in publication and graphic arts computer skills, 4) be an innovative self-starter with an outgoing personality who works well alone or as part of a team; and 5) be available to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to remain confidential when necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Initiate and provide leadership in all areas and platforms of communication regarding the Center, in support of The Mary Campbell Center.
Key work components include.
- Managing and creating the content of all external and internal communications, to ensure that we are disseminating consistent messaging to all of our residents and constituents.
- Overseeing and editing the content of our website, Facebook page, and all other social media outlets.
- Responsible for updating information on all media screens throughout the building to reflect what is happening at The Mary Campbell Center.
- Collaborating with the VP of Advancement to communicate all messages and updates related to advancement, as well as keeping all constituents informed regarding ongoing projects.
- Develop materials to educate staff on communication practices.
- Must be an advocate of the new vision and mission statements and include these in all communications (internally/externally)
- Build a calendar of events for the year to be shared on all social media platforms.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the Board of Directors, and the Executive Director, serve as the principal staff representative to the External Affairs Committee of the Board.
- Responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Executive Director as needed on the day-to-day operations of the Center.
Key work components include:
- Provide administrative, organizational and communications support to the Executive Director in supporting the day-to day operations of the Center.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents at the direction of the Executive Director.
- Provide confidential administrative support to the Board of Directors. Maintain records of board actions as required by bylaws and incorporation articles. Schedule Board and Committee meetings, prepare agendas, attend and record sessions, distribute minutes timely and securely, provide other administrative support as needed.
- In partnership with the administrative team, maintain policies and procedures in an up-to-date secure manner.
- Assist as requested in the preparation of the POC for Division of Health Care Quality.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge.
- Ensure sensitive material/information is maintained/processed in a confidential manner.
- Compose informational correspondence for dissemination to residents, families and Board of Directors updates.
- Participate as a member of Senior Administrative Team.
- Serve as a member on various committees as assigned by the executive Director.
- Complete all mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
