The Michigan Municipal League (the League) is seeking a skilled administrative professional to serve as the Communications Associate within our Marketing & Communications (MarComm) team. The approximate starting salary range for this position is $42,000 - $47,000 depending on qualifications. Our ideal candidate delivers outstanding administrative support and is a motivated self-starter with great initiative and problem-solving skills. They can easily take on new challenges and effectively juggle multiple priorities while delivering superior customer service. Incredible organization and attention to detail is a must. A sense of humor will come in handy as will a willingness to jump in to do what's needed (we all do).
If you were working for us, here are just some things you would do:
- Serve as the central point person for administrative functions within the MarComm department. Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, collaborate with other departments, assist with light bookkeeping, and prepare and proofread documents, presentations, and other materials using established writing style. Create, update, and maintain various databases, schedules, and electronic and paper files.
- Coordinate onsite educational programs and webinars, assists in the planning and execution of larger meetings, conferences, and events, and participates with on-site coordination and logistics. Set up and close events in League database, prepare event materials, and pack, load/unload boxes, and completes related tasks.
- Provides support to the overall marketing and communication efforts. Coordinates and completes mass printing and mailing of marketing pieces, maintains and updates photography files, participates in quality control efforts, and maintains an inventory of departmental supplies.
- Receives internal requests for communication services and forwards to appropriate team members for completion. Coordinates with project contributors and stakeholders on project status and expectations to ensure timely completion using established workflow systems.
- Provide excellent customer service to colleagues and members
- Herd cats. There will be a lot of different people, personalities, and priorities working with this position so being able to juggle them all harmoniously is a must.
About You: Our ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Education and or training equivalent to an associate's degree is preferred.
- Prior experience in an administrative support role or related field is required. Previous experience working with event planning or in a non-profit setting will be helpful.
- Intermediate skill working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to quickly gain proficiency in project and communications programs (i.e., Monday.com, Smartsheet, Constant Contact, Google Analytics, etc.) is required.
- Superior customer service and interpersonal communication skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail is a must.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities with a high sense of urgency to meet deadlines is required.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of the team and perform a variety of critical tasks.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with different personalities and individuals at all levels.
- Ability to live in Michigan to support the great state we represent.
