Job Description:
MEI has a job opportunity for a Commissioning Director to commission mission critical data center electrical equipment systems for a world class technology company. This commissioning role will oversee the commissioning team and overall process for power generation and distribution systems, uninterruptible power supplies, automatic transfer switches, PDU's and medium voltage switchgear. The candidate must have a working knowledge of electrical power systems or equivalent industry experience with strong communication and leadership skills. This role can be based in Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, Reno, NV, or Las Vegas, NV.
This position will require a minimum of 50% travel.
Job Duties:
- Lead and manage the commissioning team, providing direction, support, and development opportunities.
- Oversee the development of commissioning plans and schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the commissioning team and other project stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding commissioning activities.
- Develop, oversee, and write commissioning policies, scripts and procedures.
- Validate equipment installations.
- Perform construction observations and develop thorough test plans.
- Execute tests for a wide variety of electrical systems and ensure testing is performed in conformance with standards and specifications.
- Be the connection between clients, contractors, and vendors during all phases of commissioning projects.
- Review and analyze data and prepare technical reports.
- Review design documents and equipment submittals.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and other project team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in electrical power distribution with a strong emphasis in data centers.
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred but will consider other engineering disciplines, two (2) year degree, military training, or equivalent work experience.
- Passion for leading in moments of ambiguity, particularly in the realm of construction and electrical operational problems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Top-notch organization in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with MS Office products is critical.
- Must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be motivated by deadlines, and possess the ability to multi-task
- Working knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards.
- Experience conducting quality control of electrical construction documents.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD. Bluebeam experience a plus.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Commissioning Professional) are a plus.
