Summary
We are looking for a Title Examiner to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Title Production Manager and will be responsible for abstracting and examining commercial and residential real property. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in examining and preparing title commitments, with a deep understanding of title insurance underwriting. We value individuals who can handle a high volume of work, adapt to change, and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Examine complex commercial and residential real property abstracts, analyzing liability, risk, and insurability.
- Review ownership history to identify all parties with interest.
- Analyze deeds, mortgages, assignments, discharges, affidavits, judgments, taxes/assessments, agreements, court orders, trust documents, easements, covenants, BURS, Master Deeds, amendments, maps, surveys, tract indexes, and more.
- Review and analyze legal descriptions, with the ability to map metes and bounds descriptions.
- Investigate issues involving inaccurate, contradictory, incomplete, and/or missing information.
- Prepare thorough and accurate property reports and commitments promptly.
- Perform quality control reviews and provide support and training to less experienced examiners.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years of experience examining commercial property for title insurance purposes.
- Experience with Michigan commercial property preferred.
- Must transfer or obtain a Michigan Title Producer License.
- Strong knowledge of real estate transactions and land records.
- Understanding of title insurance underwriting standards and ALTA Endorsements is a plus.
- Excellent data entry and typing skills.
- High standard of accuracy and detail-oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments efficiently without direct supervision.
- Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to adapt quickly and deliver results.
- High level of integrity and ethical behavior.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle high-volume processing.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and industry standards
