The Commercial Reporting Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing key financial and operational reports to support the decision-making processes within the Commercial Banking team. Key responsibilities include gathering data from multiple sources, preparing reports, identifying trends, and delivering insights to support business objectives. Additionally, this position is responsible for the appraisal & environmental management process by ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of appraisals and environmental reports for commercial real estate transactions. This role involves reviewing appraisals and environmental reports submitted by third-party vendors to ensure alignment with company policies, regulatory guidelines, and industry standards. This individual provides feedback, conducts risk assessments, and supports the bank's credit and lending functions by delivering reliable appraisals and environmental reports to mitigate financial risk. The ideal incumbent has strong analytical skills, is detail-oriented, and has experience in commercial banking or financial reporting.
Responsibilities:• Collect and validate data from internal systems, external sources, and other financial platforms
• Perform in-depth analysis of trends and patterns that impact the commercial banking sector, identifying areas of opportunity or risk
• Develop, produce, and maintain regular and ad hoc reports for senior management and other stakeholder
• Generate reports related to financial performance, credit risk, portfolio metrics, and other key areas within commercial banking
• Interpret data to create actionable insights and recommendations that drive business growth and operational efficiency
• Work closely with business leaders to understand reporting needs and adjust reporting processes as required
• Collaborate with other teams such as Risk, Finance, IT, and Compliance to ensure data accuracy and alignment across departments
• Present findings and reports to stakeholders, explaining complex data clearly and concisely
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy, speed, and efficiency
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial reporting and analytics
• Review commercial real estate appraisals to ensure compliance with company policies, Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and other applicable regulations
• Review environmental reports to determine if additional due diligence is required or if a waiver should be requested
• Assess and communicate risks associated with appraised values for commercial properties, providing input to support lending and investment decisions
• Document findings, provide recommendations for adjustments, and ensure all reviews are properly documented for audit and compliance purposes
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports summarizing review outcomes and identifying potential risks or concerns for the credit and lending teams
• Collaborate with third-party appraisers/environmental vendors to facilitate timely and accurate appraisals & environmental reports for commercial properties
• Evaluate and manage the performance of external vendors providing feedback and conducting periodic assessments
• Maintain a network of qualified appraisers and environmental vendors, engaging in ongoing communication to ensure quality standards are met
• Liaise with lending officers, underwriters, and senior management to communicate appraisal or environmental findings and resolve any issues related to valuation or findings
• Provide guidance and support to other departments for matters related to commercial real estate valuations and environmental reports
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
• Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
• Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or business lending with a financial institution underwriting traditional credits
- Experience with financial reporting in a commercial banking environment
- Knowledge of credit underwriting, accounting, and loan documentation
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, SQL, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Advanced level of interpersonal skills to interact with loan officers, administrative staff, and customers
- Advanced personal time management skills
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Advanced credit, reporting, and administrative skills
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines

- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
