The Job at a Glance:
The Commercial Portfolio Analyst will assist in the oversight and management of Credit Union 1 portfolios of commercial real estate loans. This position is directly responsible for assisting the Commercial Lending Manager and Chief Lending Officer in the analysis of business opportunities related to financing and dispositions. The primary responsibility of the Commercial Portfolio Analyst is to analyze the performance, opportunities, and strategies of Credit Union 1's commercial loan portfolios in a timely manner.
A Typical Day:
- Conduct financial and business due diligence to determine the appropriate account management monitoring, including Credit Union 1 and commercial lending research, and financial analysis. Proactively highlight any concerns or issues with a comprehensive assessment and recommendation.
- Compile portfolio metrics for commercial lending dashboards, reviews, reporting, and analytics projects, coordinating with various stakeholders, including borrower contacts, internal originations and underwriting coverage, capital markets, legal counsel, loan closers and operations personnel.
- Anticipate key business, marketplace, and competitor dynamics in finding opportunities for commercial lending portfolio.
- Coordinate with Mortgage Servicing department to ensure accurate billing and to address day-to-day borrower needs.
- Maintain on-going compliance with commercial real estate loan agreements and internal policies.
- Ensure proper records retention and associated documents are maintained on an on-going basis and audit certain business processes to ensure internal data accuracy for portfolio reporting purposes.
- Research and collect market data and market/industry emerging credit risks trends.
- Develop, prepare, and monitor key commercial real estate loan portfolio metrics based on historical, peer, and benchmark data to identify existing and emerging risks within Credit Union 1 loan portfolio.
- Analyze the potential impact of changes within Credit Union 1 loan portfolio, markets, industry, and/or regulatory environment to identify emerging risks or trends.
- Prepare written and/oral reports to be provided to the Board of Directors.

What We Look For:
- Bachelor's degree in with a preferred concentration in finance, accounting, business, or economics.
- Minimum 2+ years related experience including, but not limited to private credit, commercial corporate lending, corporate credit ratings, valuations, or accounting. Portfolio management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial mortgage products and underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with computer skills (MS Excel) and other business-related software.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
- Maintain a high level of business acumen with the ability to develop strong relationships with borrowers, brokers, and industry partners.
- Ability to identify and facilitate change in a deadline driven, highly regulated environment.
- Competency in basic math skills such as calculating interest and commercial mortgage payments.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential.
