The Commercial Planning Manager isis responsible for successfully leading and managing the Commercial Planning function for MAHLE Filter Systems North America.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain a robust quoting process in coordination with other functions including Segment Managers, Plant Management, Sales, Purchasing, Advance Manufacturing and Controlling. Responsible to drive consensus while maintaining profitability levels; elevate issues or opportunities as appropriate.
- Full quoting process ownership, including the maintenance of standards and methods consistent with MAHLE and BU2 principals which are driven to meet the needs of BU2 in North America. Continuous improvement in profitability year over year is expected.
- Support the product segment teams in the development of robust segment strategies, including justifications for investments and suggestions for improving overall competitive position in the market.
- Work closely with BU2 Global leads on the development of FACTON and any related tools.
- Ensure effective use of FACTON cost and price development tools throughout the BU2 North America.
- Proactive participation in the development of costing rates and financial targets such as Return on Sales (ROS), Return on Capital Employed (ROCE), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Proactive participation in the development and execution of product strategies.
- Manage the activities of the Commercial Planning team. Responsibilities include:
- Ensure that the Commercial Planner's responsibilities in the PDP process are fulfilled
- Ensure best practices model is used for all quotations
- Resource allocation and development of project plan to meet timing requirements
- Clear communication of economic considerations such as ROS, ROCE, IRR, minimum sales price, investment costs, & tooling costs
- Balance current product and process capability with best practices and new technology
- Identification & mitigation of project risks
- Ensure timely and effective delivery of documentation as required by the MAHLE PDP process including Quality Gate reviews
- Facilitate regular approval meetings for pricing, project cost and profitability with BU2 leadership team.
- Represent North America on global cost calculation matters including changes to pricing/cost development tools and harmonization of the quotation process.
- Ensure the proper transition of the project from development to production launch including reconciliation between SAP and FACTON.
- Meet with customers as required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is Required.; Master's degree is Preferred.
- 10+ years ofexperience in Controlling, Cost Engineering, or Commercial Planning, with experience in manufacturing and product costing is Required. Automotive industry experience is strongly Preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of SAP & FACTON is Highly Desired.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to facilitate problem resolution is Required.
- Demonstrated understanding of Product Development Process (PDP) is Required.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment is necessary.
- Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of business problems is needed.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with Global Functions and Region is required.
- Global or multi-national business experience is Strongly Preferred.
- Working knowledge of ISO14001 and TS16949 standards as applicable to the position is Beneficial.
