Using company resources, software and networking with industry professionals, you will locate and obtain commercial bid work, present estimates, and maintain communication with current book of business. A few of the main duties of this position are breaking down commercial plans to find scope, completing takeoffs with an understanding of customer and product specifications, creating estimates, and presenting a final proposal for a project.
Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial project labor, material, equipment, and time requirements
- Effectively read and understand commercial plans to create an accurate estimate
- Understand how the RFP desires bids to be submitted and adjust our proposal template accordingly
- Know what is in your scope and where you can lean on partnerships to submit complete bid packages
- Understand and account for all costs that go into the project
- Cleary define scope in the proposal and any assumptions made based on information available
- Review and analyze commercial post project production reports
- Ensure correct production hour estimates are being used and timelines are being met
- Collaborate with the Business Development Manager, Field Operations Manager, and team leaders to ensure accurate bidding measures are being used and set as required.
- Understand where company is winning and losing on commercial estimates to make adjustments for the future
- Interact with commercial clients by answering questions and resolving concerns as needed
- Attend networking events and pre/post bid meetings that occur both during and outside office hours
- Drop in on current and prospective commercial book of business
- Visiting existing commercial job sites to analyze the progress, and see if there are any partnerships to be made with other trades
- Stay current with bid platforms and CAD programs to ensure drawing take-offs and calculations are done efficiently and accurately
- Responsible for continued training on current software and CRM to best utilize
- Search for outside software and programs to improve the efficiency and accuracy of commercial bids
- Responsible to achieve individual bid requirements and sales goals. Will work closely with the Business Development Manager to determine which jobs the company will be bidding
Requirements
- Two years of experience working as an estimator
- A strong desire to grow into a sales role
- Ability to handle rejection without a high need of approval
- Ability to put together a professional presentation
- Ability to work well on a team
- Very detail oriented
- Ability to understand construction drawings and requirements
- Deep desire for growth, both professionally and personally
- The most successful individuals will have a working knowledge of standard hardscaping practices, and/or landscaping, and/or standard construction practices
- Strong oral communication skills, job planning skills, and math skills are a must
- Proficient in DynaSCAPE
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License
- $65,000 - $75,000 annual salary
