About the Job
As a Commercial Glazier, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and replacement of glass in commercial buildings. Your duties will involve working with various types of glass and materials to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of windows, doors, partitions, and other glass surfaces.
Responsibilities:
- Measure and cut glass to specified dimensions using precision tools.
- Install glass in frames or structural supports, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
- Fabricate and install metal framework for glass installation when necessary.
- Replace damaged or broken glass panels in windows, doors, and storefronts.
- Seal glass joints and edges with caulking or other sealants to prevent leaks and drafts.
- Follow safety protocols and use protective equipment to minimize risks associated with glass handling.
- Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to determine project requirements and specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with existing glass installations, including adjusting or replacing hardware.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, performing regular inspections and repairs as needed.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including materials used and hours worked.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a commercial glazier or similar role.
- Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and installing various types of glass.
- Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment, such as glass cutters, drills, and suction cups.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to glass installation and safety.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately to meet project specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and clients.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work with heavy glass panels and in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines and wear protective gear.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Certification or training in glass installation and glazing techniques is a plus.
