Commercial Journeyman Electrician
Primary Responsibilities
- Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, outlets, and circuit breakers in commercial environments.
- Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using tools like multimeters, circuit testers, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installations and repairs.
- Compliance: Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes, as well as safety standards.
- Panel Upgrades: Perform panel upgrades and modifications for commercial electrical systems to accommodate load requirements.
- Wiring Systems: Run conduit, pull wires, and make connections for electrical systems such as lighting controls, HVAC systems, and fire alarms.
- Testing and Inspections: Conduct routine testing and inspections of electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Energy Efficiency: Recommend and implement energy-efficient solutions, such as LED lighting installations or upgrades.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other electricians, contractors, and construction professionals to complete projects on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Journeyman Electrician License for the state of California.
- Experience: At least 4-5 years of experience in commercial electrical systems.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety standards, and local building codes.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools specific to electrical work.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that involve climbing, kneeling, or standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with low-voltage systems (e.g., security systems, fire alarms, and telecommunications).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
