Job Summary
Performs credit review and underwriting of small business and commercial loans with a total Synovus Related Exposure (TSRE) up to $5MM as part of the Commercial Credit Analysis team. Demonstrates flexibility as underwriting assignments will vary depending on resources available and current volume. Refers to documented policies and procedures to guide and support the review and decision making process. Seeks the advice of senior team members regarding issues outside of assigned scope. Performs basic research and financial and statistical analyses to determine and support client credit worthiness. Prepares reports and presentations for review and approval. Ensures all transactions and processing are in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines, policies and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Performs credit reviews and underwriting of commercial loans under supervision of more senior level staff.
* Conducts basic EBITDA calculations for scored requests or spread financial statements if non-scored. Completes personal cash flow for scored and non-scored requests.
* Conducts basic loan portfolio research to determine credit quality, character and soundness including analysis of basic statistical data and financial statements, sensitivity analysis, industry analysis, management assessment, guarantor analysis.
* Ensures the consistent use of well supported and factual analyses and processes to determine and recommend risk ratings for loans that are manually underwritten.
* Seeks advice and direction on issues outside of assigned scope or guidelines.
* Follows standard operating procedures to assist in preparing analyses, reports, and presentations for management review.
* Participates in and supports special projects as needed. Participates in continuous improvement activities.
* Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
* Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Ability to meet reasonable deadlines and prioritization of workflow
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products
