Position Summary
The Commercial Credit Analyst supports lenders by performing detailed financial analysis of borrowing opportunities, preparing credit approval packages, and maintaining current financial reporting for loan relationships. The role requires strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of financial trends, and the ability to document findings effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data (e.g., financial statements, agency reports) of prospective and current borrowing accounts.
- Prepare detailed written reports evaluating the short and long-term prospects of businesses or individuals.
- Provide recommendations to Loan Officers on loan approval or denial and document these recommendations with thorough supporting information.
- Identify trends in financial data and key financial ratios such as cash flow-to-debt service and debt-to-equity.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive credit offering memorandums and supporting spreadsheets.
- Suggest appropriate loan grades based on in-depth credit analysis.
- Conduct annual reviews of existing loan relationships to assess ongoing creditworthiness.
- Collect and monitor interim and annual financial statements to maintain up-to-date borrower profiles.
- Ensure compliance with the bank's credit policies and procedures.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting as assigned.
- Perform annual review of loan relationships.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Credit Analyst in a banking environment.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and risk assessment.
- Ability to interpret financial ratios and trends.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed reports and credit memorandums.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial analysis software.
