Position Overview:
As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety standards. You will act as the primary point of contact between the field and the project management team, while supervising all onsite personnel, subcontractors, and ensuring the highest levels of craftsmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight:
- Supervise all aspects of day-to-day field operations to ensure timely and high-quality completion of construction projects.
- Collaborate with Project Manager to establish project timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Coordinate subcontractors, material deliveries, and inspections to ensure all work is done according to plan and schedule.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and direct field staff and subcontractors, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient work practices.
- Ensure all workers adhere to safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment to enhance productivity and morale.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct frequent inspections of worksite to ensure construction is being completed according to approved plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Resolve on-site issues promptly, ensuring that work is carried out to the highest quality standards.
- Track project progress and address any delays or quality issues promptly.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Implement and enforce company safety policies, ensuring the worksite meets or exceeds safety standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation of all safety protocols, incidents, and safety meetings.
- Project Documentation:
- Maintain daily reports, logs, and schedules for project tracking and compliance.
- Communicate project status, challenges, and progress to Project Manager and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all permits, inspections, and required paperwork are completed on time.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and vendors.
- Address and resolve any client concerns or issues that arise on the jobsite.
- Ensure that the client’s vision is adhered to throughout the construction process.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction as a Superintendent or similar role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale commercial projects (office buildings, retail, industrial, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contract management, and scheduling.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.
- Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently under pressure.
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, and navigate construction sites.
