POSITION SUMMARY:
The Color Assistant will be responsible for filling a variety of supporting roles to the colorist and providing support to produce color grading operations from ingest to delivery. Primarily they will learn new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow. In this position they actively provide support and solutions for the colorist team.
This position will require working in our Hollywood studio on a regular basis. You may also be required to travel and work out of our studio in Santa Monica, as needed. Must be available to work overtime and variable shifts, including late nights, weekends and holidays, as necessary per business needs.

The Color Assistant will be responsible for supporting feature colorists, resource and technology support, quality assurance and control, as well as providing exceptional customer service during client sessions. Their duties are outlined as follows:

The Color Assistant will be responsible for supporting feature colorists, resource and technology support, quality assurance and control, as well as providing exceptional customer service during client sessions. Their duties are outlined as follows:
- Support Feature Colorists/Color Support: Help support, color and display systems that enable colorists to perform efficiently and productively during sessions. Knowledgeable of the various flavors of color spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ …), LUT applications and skills for color tracing, match grading and rendering.
- Resource/New Technology Support: Operating DaVinici Resolve v18, Baselight or similar application, Barco 4K/2KP, Kinoton film projectors, DVS Clipster, Avid, Final Cut Pro, HDSR video machines and video routers. Help support new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow.
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control: Detailed oriented with application and equipment settings. Thoroughly check all work for errors before content is distributed downstream. Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the feature finishing process.
- Teamwork: Collaborate and communicate with fellow colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines. Document workflows and help train incoming new hires.
- Customer Service: Drive client supervised sessions; screenings, visual effects reviews and color-correction sessions as directed by colorist and/or production management.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with media/post-production industry, as well as demonstrated experience as a hands-on operator. They will have excellent organizational skills, an exceptional eye for detail, strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and be a great team player. Additional desired skills include:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Excellent typing skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Davinci Resolve v18 and/or Baselight is a plus.
- Other System knowledge is a plus: DVS Clipster, Adobe Premiere, OSD/Transkoder, and Avid is a plus.
- Demonstrate working experience with digital cinema projectors and film projectors is a plus.
- Capacity and interest to learn new material as needed in fast-paced and technical professional environment
